Winter - Summer - 2010 Field Trips  It is suggested that you let leaders know that you are going on a trip In case of last minute changes."  All field trips are open to the public free of charge. --- Beginners are welcome to all programs and field trips. There will be experienced birders to help out the beginners on field trips.

Bergen County Audubon Society will be running two field trips a month (July through December) in partnership with the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission.  The trips are scheduled for the first Sunday  and the third Tuesday of the month, covering various locations in the Meadowlands.  The trips begin at 10:00 AM - for meeting location, contact - Leader - Don Torino (201) 636-4022 -  Email greatauk4@aol.com.

As part of our partnership with the NJ Meadowlands Commission, BCAS is conducting bird walks at the Meadowlands the first Sunday and third Tuesday of each month.  On a recent Tuesday bird walk, we stopped by the Erie Landfill in North Arlington to watch NJMC naturalist Mike Newhouse band birds as part of a research project to see how birds use landfills during migration.  This was followed by a walk at Harrier Meadows and around the DeKorte Park, highlighted by views of soras, 4 golden plovers and 2 black bellied plovers among others.  This event was enjoyed by 30 birders.

Bergen County Audubon Society will also run trips in conjunction with the Overpeck Preserve www.overpeckpreserve.org.  Please see website for listing of trips.  Contact Dick Engsberg (201) 947-0596 for further information about trips.
